Submersible pumps are devices used to pump out or transfer clean or dirty water. They are used in industry and as part of sanitary installations in single-family homes. There are many pump models, some of which also feature a grinding function that makes it possible to remove larger contaminants.
Types of pumps with grinders
Pumps with grinders are devices equipped with an electric motor. They can grind solid materials thanks to additional blades fitted to the pump. Pumps with grinders should be selected according to their intended use:
- pumps intended for wastewater — typically used in industrial treatment plants and for treating septic-tank wastewater, fecal wastewater, and graywater; they have large-diameter pipes,
- graywater pumps — typically used in treatment systems that do not contain fecal wastewater, such as bathrooms and kitchens, for example in single-family homes, meaning domestic applications,
- commercial pumps with grinders — with very powerful motors, used in public treatment plants,
- septic-tank pumps — for use in single-family homes.

The selection of the right pump model with a grinder should depend on the following factors:
- where the pump is located (the sewer riser),
- the motor power required for the task,
- the application — the intended use of the pump also determines the diameter of the pipes to which it will be connected.
Pumps with grinders for septic tanks — other applications
Pumps with grinders are an ideal solution for treating wastewater or septic tanks containing a large amount of dense suspension. They are excellent for grinding fine sediment from deposits accumulating at the bottom of tanks, so they can also be successfully used to clean tanks other than septic tanks, for example in home gardens. Pumps with grinders are also suitable for cleaning drainage wells where rainwater collects.
