Pump and system selection

Start with the water demand and required pressure. These values determine the pump’s flow rate and head.

Water requirement calculator

Estimates the instantaneous (simultaneous) water demand and approximate daily consumption in the home and household. Average values based on tables from the IBO catalog.

Device parameter selection diagram

Step-by-step guide to pressure systems: how to determine the required flow rate and pressure, and when to choose a pump with a pressure tank.

Podajesz
water demand, required pressure
Wynik
pressure system selection guidelines

NPSH and cavitation risk calculator

Checks whether the suction installation provides the pump with a sufficient NPSH margin. Simple and advanced modes, taking into account the type of liquid, temperature, and pipe material.

Podajesz
suction or positive inlet head, flow rate, suction pipe, liquid temperature, required NPSH
Wynik
Available NPSH, margin, and cavitation risk assessment

Pipeline and pressure losses

The pipe's diameter and material determine how much pressure the pump will lose on its way to the draw-off points.

Pipe diameter converter

Compares corresponding pipe dimensions across various standards: DN, DIN, ISO, metric, imperial, and ASTM.

Podajesz
pipe standard and dimensions
Wynik
equivalents in the other standards

Pressure and performance losses

Shows the pressure loss in a rigid, horizontal pipeline depending on the material, nominal diameter, and water flow rate.

Unit conversion

Catalog cards, pressure gauges, and foreign-language documentation provide parameters in different units. Convert them all in one step here.

Volumetric flow rate calculator

Converts pump capacity between metric and imperial units.

Podajesz
value and unit: m³/h, l/h, l/min, l/s, ft³/min, ft³/s, gal/min (US), gal/s (US)
Wynik

Pressure unit converter

Converts pressure and head, e.g. when a pump datasheet gives metres of water column while a pressure gauge shows bar or PSI.

Podajesz
value and unit: bar, MPa, kPa, PSI, mH₂O, atm
Wynik
value in all remaining units

Pump power supply and control

Selection of the inverter and power cable. The cable calculators assume a voltage drop of 1.5% for 230 V and 2% for 400 V, because a cable that is too thin or too long reduces the voltage at the motor.

Inverter selection calculator

Based on the pump’s nameplate data, it shows inverters from Dambat’s range that will work with it. It takes into account the pump type, power supply method, IP rating, and control method.

Podajesz
P2 power and rated current of the pump, mains and motor power supply, pump type, IP rating, control method, Modbus
Wynik
Inverters from the range matched to the pump

Cable cross-section calculator

Selects the conductor cross-section of the power cable supplying the pump based on the specified cable length and motor power.

Podajesz
cable length, pump power, 230 / 400 V voltage, 1- or 3-phase installation
Wynik
cable cross-section (mm²)

Maximum cable length calculator

Calculates how long a cable with a given cross-section can be so that the voltage drop does not exceed the permissible value.

Podajesz
cable cross-section, pump power, voltage 230 / 400 V, single- or three-phase installation
Wynik
maximum cable length (m)

Heating and operating costs

Tools for heating system installations and for those considering replacing an old pump with an energy-efficient one.

Selecting the capacity of a diaphragm expansion vessel

Determines the expansion vessel capacity for a closed water heating system, including systems with ethylene glycol, for a vessel on the suction or discharge side of the pump.

Podajesz

Wynik
percentage savings and return on investment period

Frequently asked questions

Are the calculators free of charge?

Yes. All tools work in your browser, with no registration or login required. You can copy or print the result if the calculator has that option.

Which calculator should I start with when selecting a pump?

First estimate the water demand, then use the equipment parameter selection chart. Next, check the pressure losses in the pipeline and, for pumps operating under suction, the NPSH margin as well. Finally, select the cross-section of the power supply cable and, if the pump is to operate at variable speed, a frequency inverter as well.

What assumptions do cable calculators make?

The cross-section calculator and maximum cable length converter assume an allowable voltage drop of 1.5% for a single-phase 230 V installation and 2% for a three-phase 400 V installation, with the cable operating at temperatures from -25°C to +60°C.

How accurate are the results?

The calculations are based on the principles of physics and average catalog data. Actual values may vary depending on the materials and installation conditions, so it is worth verifying the result before purchase and installation.

What to do when the result raises doubts?

Contact us: +48 22 721 11 92 or biuro@dambat.pl. We will help interpret the result and choose the right device.
