Pressure unit converter

Convert bar, MPa, kPa, PSI, atm, and m of water column (mH₂O) — useful when selecting a submersible pump, variable frequency drive, compressor, hose, or pressure gauge, when the head is given in meters of water column and you need the value in bar or PSI.

Cheat sheet: most common pressure conversions

1 bar = 0.1 MPa = 100 kPa = 14.5038 PSI = 10.1972 mH₂O = 0.9869 atm
1 MPa = 10 bar = 1000 kPa = 145.038 PSI = 101.972 mH₂O = 9.8692 atm
1 kPa = 0.01 bar = 0.001 MPa = 0.145038 PSI = 0.101972 mH₂O = 0.009869 atm
1 PSI = 0.068948 bar = 0.0068948 MPa = 6.89476 kPa = 0.70307 mH₂O = 0.068046 atm
1 mH₂O = 0.0980665 bar = 0.00980665 MPa = 9.80665 kPa = 1.42233 PSI = 0.096784 atm
1 atm = 1.01325 bar = 0.101325 MPa = 101.325 kPa = 14.6959 PSI = 10.3323 mH₂O

Converting m of water column (mH₂O) to bar is based on the value adopted in pump engineering 1 mH₂O = 9806.65 Pa (at a water density of 1000 kg/m³ and gravitational acceleration of 9.80665 m/s²) — therefore, the popular simplification “10 meters of water column is approximately 1 bar” is very close to the actual value.
