Submersible pumps are devices designed to draw water from deep wells. Their task is to pump water from the bottom of the well to the surface and deliver it to the water system on the property. These types of water intakes are drilled using specialized drilling rigs, and their depth often exceeds 10 m. The standard diameter of a well borehole in our country is approximately 160 mm, but even today there are wells that are much narrower. Some have openings with a diameter of 100 mm, and there are even wells with an even smaller opening! Wells with openings narrower than 125 mm are always a challenge for investors because not all universal pumps fit them.
What submersible pump should be installed in a deep well with an exceptionally narrow opening? If you would like to find out the answer to this question, we invite you to read today’s post!
What should the ideal submersible pump for a narrow well be like?
Because a submersible pump must be installed in the well borehole, devices designed for narrow wells must above all have an exceptionally slim design. When choosing the right submersible pump, we must remember that its diameter should be at least 10 to 15 mm smaller than the diameter of the well borehole. Their diameter can range from 74 to 90 mm, which allows for convenient installation in a well borehole with a diameter of less than 125 mm.
Their compact design is also very important. Thanks to it, pumps of this type can easily handle pumping even large amounts of water to considerable heights. Multistage pumps are a good technological solution for narrow and deep wells. Such devices often use low-power motors that can nevertheless generate sufficiently high pressure to provide users with satisfactory operating performance (they can pump up to 100 liters of water per minute!).
Narrow wells require investors to purchase a slim submersible pump. Fortunately, this does not mean that such a device will be less efficient than pumps with standard dimensions. In our online store, you will find various models of narrow submersible pumps that achieve very high performance. However, when selecting the right pump for your well, you should not base your decision solely on its capacity. Higher capacity is not always beneficial, as it may cause the water level to drop too rapidly during pumping, which can result in the pump operating dry—a highly dangerous situation.
It is also worth paying attention to the material from which the pump housing is made. By choosing a model made of the highest-quality stainless steel, you can be confident of reliable operation for many years.
