Sterowanie pomp obiegowych. Co warto wiedzieć?

A circulation pump is an integral part of almost every heating system. Increasingly advanced solutions are appearing on the market, designed to achieve the greatest possible energy savings. These results can be achieved by using appropriate control systems. What do you need to know about circulation pump control to choose the best and most efficient solution?

Electronic circulation pump control

The greatest advantage of electronically controlled circulation pumps is their energy efficiency. When the operating mode is taken into account appropriately, the device may require even 2–5 times less energy than traditional solutions. This does not result in any loss of head. Electronically controlled circulation pumps are indeed a larger investment than those with manual control, but the expense pays for itself within just two years of operation.

Electronic circulation pump control uses a microprocessor controller responsible for analyzing operating parameters and conditions. Based on this data and taking the specific installation into account, the pump’s capacity and torque are selected, thereby also determining its electricity consumption. Lower energy consumption can also be achieved with a potentiometer, which allows the pump’s capacity and head to be adjusted continuously.

External circulation pump control

Put simply, external circulation pump control is based on an electronic device that automatically switches the pump on and off depending on the temperature. Such a controller can be installed in systems with coal-fired or gas-fired boilers. The controller is equipped with a sensor that measures the water temperature in the central heating system’s supply line.
