25 W UV sterilizer – water disinfection with UV radiation
The IBO 25 W UV sterilizer is a device for disinfecting water with UV-C radiation, which destroys bacteria and microorganisms without using chemicals and does not change the taste or smell of the water. It is part of a water treatment system for water from private intakes.
Who is it for
- Well and surface water intake owners – disinfection of water contaminated with bacteria as a water treatment stage.
- Water treatment system installers – easy integration into the system thanks to the threaded connection ports and complete included equipment.
- Aquarium enthusiasts and pond owners – limiting the growth of microorganisms in the water circulation system without chemicals.
- Residential swimming pool users – support for maintaining the microbiological cleanliness of circulating water.
Applications
- Disinfection of water from shallow wells and surface water intakes as part of a water treatment system.
- Filtration and disinfection of utility water in domestic and commercial installations.
- Maintaining the microbiological cleanliness of water in aquariums and garden ponds.
- Support for water treatment in residential swimming pools.
The 25 W 230 V UV sterilizer is installed in series in the system using 1" threaded connection ports,
and power is supplied by the included transformer with a grounding cable.
Features of the 25 W UV sterilizer – description and technical data
Disinfection is based on the germicidal action of UV-C radiation: light absorbed by the DNA structures of microorganisms destroys them without adding any chemical compounds. As a result, the water retains its natural taste and smell, and the process does not introduce disinfection by-products into it.
The emitter’s protective tube is made entirely of quartz, which minimally attenuates UV radiation, allowing a high dose of germicidal light to reach the water. The AISI 304 stainless steel housing provides corrosion resistance and a long service life in contact with water. The Philips lamp used has a service life of over 8000 hours, while the design enables quick emitter replacement, simplifying servicing and ensuring continuous operation.
The device is supplied ready for installation – the set includes a transformer with a grounding cable (230 V), O-rings, and adapters. The sterilizer should be installed and stored at room temperature in a dry, well-ventilated place.

The UV sterilizer is part of a water treatment system. The device should be selected based on a water quality analysis and the treatment objective, while the final suitability of the water for drinking is confirmed by a quality check at the point of use. To remove mechanical contaminants such as sand and maintain disinfection effectiveness, using a mechanical (in-line) filter before the sterilizer is recommended.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ) – what is the 25 W UV sterilizer used for?
What is the 25 W UV sterilizer used for?
UV sterilizer application
The 25 W UV sterilizer is used to disinfect water contaminated with bacteria using UV-C radiation. It is a disinfection stage in a water treatment system for shallow wells and surface water intakes.
Does the UV sterilizer provide potable water?
Water and suitability for drinking
The UV sterilizer is part of a water treatment system and does not confirm that the water is suitable for drinking. The final suitability of the water for drinking is confirmed by a quality check at the point of use, and the device should be selected based on a water quality analysis.
What water quality is required for operating the UV sterilizer?
Water requirements
The iron content in the water should not exceed 0.1 mg/l, and the hardness should be below 110 CaCO₃ mg/l. We recommend installing a mechanical filter before the sterilizer to remove sand and other contaminants, as they affect disinfection effectiveness.
Does the UV lamp need to be switched off when there is no water flow?
Continuous operation of the UV lamp
The lamp should operate continuously, even when water is not flowing temporarily. Frequent switching on and off significantly shortens the emitter's lifespan.
How long does the UV lamp in the IBO sterilizer last?
UV lamp lifespan
The Philips lamp used has a rated lifespan of over 8,000 hours. The device is designed to enable simple and quick replacement of the emitter.
