Applications
The SWQ 180 is intended exclusively for pumping technically clean water, including rainwater from tanks, water from garden ponds, lakes and rivers, and for supplying small irrigation systems. The impeller passage is 2 mm, meaning it tolerates only water that is virtually free of suspended solids—sand, mineral silt and other mechanical contaminants quickly damage the steel impeller and the Ceramic/Carbon/NBR seal. The pump is not suitable for dirty water, wastewater or media containing solid particles. The pump is not a water-treatment device—when using it for other purposes, we recommend ensuring appropriate pretreatment.
The cooling jacket dissipates heat through the pumped medium, so the unit does not need to be fully submerged during operation. The model has no built-in float switch—it requires external level control or direct user supervision. Thermal protection in the winding protects the motor if the medium runs out.

The pump has no float switch—is that a problem?
It does not have to. The lack of a float switch is intentional—the pump is designed for installations where the user controls when to pump, or where external automation (a pressure switch, level sensor, or timer) handles control. If you need a model with an automatic float switch, the right choice is the SWQ 180 with the PN-1000 pneumatic float switch.
Will the SWQ 180 fit in a tight well or tank?
Yes—the housing diameter is only 115 mm, allowing installation in ring wells, IBC tanks, and other tight spaces where larger pumps simply will not fit. Its 3.8 kg weight also facilitates manual installation without additional equipment.
What is the SWQ 180 used for, and how does it differ from the larger models in the SWQ series?
The SWQ 180 is the smallest unit in the series—0.18 kW, 70 l/min, and a 5.5 m head. It is not a pump for emergency drainage of large areas, but for precise work in small installations: ponds, rainwater tanks, garden irrigation systems, and process systems. It is intended for situations where a larger model would be oversized and difficult to operate.
Can the pump handle garden water after rain—with leaves and silt?
The impeller passage is only 2 mm, so the pump is intended practically exclusively for technically clean water. Leaves, silt, and fine sand will clog the impeller or damage the seal. For pumping garden water containing organic contaminants, the better choice is SWQ 750 with a 5 mm passage, or SWQ PRO 1500 for larger volumes of water.
