Description
IBO ITALY 8 Central Heating Expansion Vessel
IBO ITALY central heating expansion vessels are floor-standing and wall-mounted expansion tanks designed for closed heating and solar systems. As the manufacturer, we design the series to precisely compensate for changes in the volume of the heating medium, stabilizing pressure and protecting the installation against failures caused by sudden pressure spikes. The series is available in capacities from 5 to 100 liters.
For whom
- HVAC installation companies – we supply proven, ready-to-install components needed to build safe closed heating and solar systems.
- Designers of sanitary and heating systems – we offer vessels with specific dimensional and pressure data, simplifying the planning of boiler-room space.
- Wholesalers and technical stores – we enable you to expand your offering with a complete range of safety equipment for thermal systems in various capacities.
- Maintenance departments – we provide vessels for protecting extensive solar and heating circuits in industrial and agricultural facilities.
Applications
- Protecting closed central heating systems against excessive pressure increases resulting from the thermal expansion of the medium.
- Operation in solar systems containing a heating medium with up to 50% ethylene or propylene glycol.
- Pressure stabilization in heating systems for residential buildings, agricultural facilities, and large industrial installations.
- Compatibility with closed heating-water and coolant-mixture circuits in boiler and collector systems.
IBO ITALY central heating expansion vessels are not suitable for contact with oils, solvents, chemical fluids, petroleum-based substances, or Group 1 fluids according to Directive 2014/68/EU.
Features, description, and technical data
The C.O. IBO ITALY series from Dambat includes expansion vessels for heating and solar systems, available in two mounting configurations: wall-mounted vessels with capacities of 5, 8, 12, 19, and 24 liters, and floor-standing (vertical) vessels with capacities of 36, 50, 80, and 100 liters. This selection of variants allows the device to be properly matched to both small domestic systems and extensive industrial installations.
The vessel body is made of thick carbon steel coated with protective exterior paint, providing corrosion resistance. A replaceable EPDM diaphragm, characterized by high tensile strength and resistance to continuous temperatures of up to 100°C, is installed inside the steel shell. The diaphragm completely separates the heating medium from the compressed air cushion, preventing internal corrosion of the body.
The vessels in this series are equipped with a sealed air valve that enables periodic checking and topping up of the pre-charge pressure using a standard compressor. The hydraulic connection consists of a replaceable galvanized flange with a diameter of ¾" or 1", making it easier to connect the vessel to an existing pipe system. Using a ball valve with a union during installation allows the vessel to be completely removed without draining the rest of the heating system.
Technical data for the C.O. IBO ITALY series:
- Diaphragm: YES – replaceable, EPDM
- Connection: ¾" or 1" (replaceable galvanized flange)
- Pre-charge pressure: 3.5 bar ±10%
- Working pressure: 8.0 bar
- Maximum test pressure: 12.0 bar
- Operating temperature: from -10°C to 100°C
- Body: carbon steel coated with protective paint
- Flange: galvanized steel
- Compliance: PED 2014/68/EU Pressure Equipment Directive
Warranty: C.O. IBO ITALY – 3-year manufacturer's warranty. Dambat is the only authorized service provider.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ) – C.O. IBO ITALY expansion vessels
What are C.O. IBO ITALY expansion vessels used for?
IBO ITALY central heating expansion vessels are designed for use in closed central heating and solar systems. Their main function is to compensate for changes in the volume of the heating medium caused by temperature fluctuations and to continuously stabilize pressure, protecting the system against excessive pressure increases and hydraulic failures.
How does this series differ from C.O. IBO ITALY Solar vessels and IBO ITALY GBV expansion tanks?
The C.O. IBO ITALY series is designed for closed heating (C.O.) and solar systems, with a pre-charge pressure of 1.7 bar and an operating temperature of up to 100°C, and is approved for use with up to 50% glycol. IBO ITALY Solar vessels are specifically designed for higher stagnation temperatures (up to 130°C for short periods) and purely solar systems. GBV tanks, on the other hand, are vessels for water-supply (pressure) systems, operating at a higher pre-charge pressure and intended for potable water rather than a heating medium.
Where can C.O. IBO ITALY expansion vessels be purchased?
As the manufacturer, we do not sell directly online. C.O. IBO ITALY expansion vessels are available from our trade partners, installation wholesalers, and authorized online distributors cooperating with the Dambat brand.
What is the warranty period, and where should service requests be submitted?
C.O. IBO ITALY series expansion vessels are covered by a 3-year manufacturer's warranty. Dambat is the only authorized service provider – the contact form is available at dambat.pl/pages/serwis.
How should C.O. IBO ITALY expansion vessels be installed correctly?
Floor-standing vessels (36–100 l) are installed in a vertical position, while wall-mounted vessels (5–24 l) are installed horizontally on the return line to the heater.
How can the pre-charge pressure in the vessels be checked and adjusted?
The pressure is measured and adjusted through the sealed air valve located on the vessel. Before each measurement, the supply of the heating medium must be shut off and the water pressure in the vessel reduced to zero. The pressure is topped up using a standard compressor. The factory pre-charge pressure for the series is 3.5 bar (±10%).
Are the vessels suitable for systems containing glycol?
Yes – C.O. IBO ITALY expansion vessels are approved for use with water and ethylene or propylene glycol mixtures, provided that the glycol content does not exceed 50%. The devices are not suitable for contact with oils, solvents, chemical liquids, petroleum-based substances, or Group 1 fluids according to Directive 2014/68/EU.
