Valve with a 1¼-inch female thread
Operating principle
Ball check valves are used to prevent backflow in a pipe. The flow is stopped by a ball seated in the valve body to form a seal. Ball valves are designed to provide a full-bore opening, thereby avoiding the risk of blockage by suspended solids. As it rotates in the flowing sewage, the ball is self-cleaning, so the valve very rarely becomes clogged or leaks. Ball check valves are recommended for sewage and stormwater pumping stations, as well as for all media that may carry sand, gravel, pieces of cloth, string, etc.
If the valve becomes blocked by non-standard sewage contents, simply unscrew the bolts securing the inspection cover, remove the ball, and clean the inside of the valve. Such work must always be carried out with the pumping station power supply switched off. Before removing the inspection cover, check that the gate valve above the ball check valve is closed, so that sewage flowing back from the pipeline does not flood the tank or hinder the maintenance technician's work.
