Horizontal diaphragm tanks, made of AISI 304 stainless steel, types 24–100, are used to store water in water supply systems. The tank shell and flange are made of stainless steel. IBO diaphragm tanks are designed to stabilize water pressure and increase the effective capacity of the water supply system. They are used with pumps whose parameters correspond to those of the tank. The stainless steel construction allows the tank to be installed in wells and damp rooms without the risk of accelerated corrosion. Inside the tanks are EPDM rubber diaphragms, forming a membrane between the water inside and the tank’s outer shell. Compressed air is located between the membrane and the tank casing; under pressure, it forces water out of the tank. Using tanks in hydrophore systems can reduce the number of pump starts over a given period, which has a beneficial effect on the service life of the entire installation. In addition, tank models types 50 and 100 are available with a built-in pressure gauge. The volume of water inside is the difference between the volume of the casing and the volume of the air surrounding the membrane.
The tanks are equipped with a special valve for pumping air into or releasing air from the tank—a valve identical to those used in car tires, located at the rear of the tank under the cover.
IBO diaphragm tanks are pressure equipment that meets the requirements of Directive 2014/68/EU.
Applications
Combined with surface or submersible pumps, they form hydrophore systems designed to supply water from private wells to plots, single- and multi-family homes, farms, and businesses.
