Horizontal diaphragm tanks, types 24–150, are designed for storing water in water supply systems. IBO diaphragm tanks are intended to stabilize water pressure and increase the effective volume of the water supply system. They are used with pumps whose parameters correspond to those of the tank. The tanks are made of thick carbon steel and coated with a special corrosion-resistant paint. Inside the tanks are EPDM rubber diaphragms that form a membrane between the water inside and the tank’s outer shell. Compressed air is located between the membrane and the tank housing; under pressure, it forces water out of the tank. Using these tanks in pressure-boosting sets can reduce the number of times the pump starts during a given period, which has a beneficial effect on the service life of the entire system. In addition, type 50 and type 100 tank models are available with a built-in pressure gauge. The volume of water inside is the difference between the volume of the housing and the volume of air surrounding the membrane.
The tanks are equipped with a special valve for adding or releasing air from the tank—a valve identical to those used in car tires, located at the rear of the tank under the cover. IBO diaphragm tanks are pressure equipment that meets the requirements of Directive 2014/68/EU.
Applications
Combined with surface or submersible pumps, they form pressure-boosting sets designed to supply water from private water sources to plots, single-family and multi-family homes, farms, and businesses.
