Wypompowywanie wody z zalanych pomieszczeń. Jak to zrobić?

Flooding a room is an event that affects us unexpectedly. It may occur for many reasons, including: due to snowmelt, sudden rainfall, water supply failures, roof damage or flood wave. This is certainly a problem that we want to solve as soon as possible. The water that remains in our home is harmful both to the building itself and its structure, and in the long run to our health and well-being. Therefore, quick and well-planned action is important. But how to effectively pump water out of flooded rooms? What to remember? And what equipment should I choose? You will learn this from our article.

What to remember?

Regardless of how much damage is caused by water in our home, it is worth remembering a few most important issues. First of all, you need to determine the cause of the damage. If the flood is caused by rapidly accumulating rainwater, we can start pumping it out almost immediately. However, if the threat is caused by high groundwater levels, we must wait. For the rescue operation to be safe and meaningful, the situation must stabilize. If we act too quickly, the foundations may be washed out.

Another important issue concerns where to discharge the pumped water. Of course, it should not go into the garden, where it will end up again, e.g. in our basement. Where should she be taken then? A good idea is to pump out the residual liquid to a well with a discharge in a remote place using a long delivery hose.

Flooded room - which pump to choose?

To remove water from a flooded room, it is necessary to use an appropriate pump. How to choose a model that will meet our expectations? First of all, it is worth considering whether the water we are dealing with is clean or dirty. What does this mean? Dirty water contains impurities, including fibrous and solid particles. Of course, the liquid that remains, e.g. in our basement, will contain elements such as sand, stones, branches or leaves. Therefore, it is even more important to choose the right tool that will not be damaged during operation. Information about whether a given pump is suitable for pumping out water can be found in the specification attached to it, which includes, among others: what is its rotor passage diameter.

It is also important what type of impeller was used in a given pump model: is it steel or made of plastic? If the water we will pump out contains sand, we should not choose the second option mentioned. It is also worth paying attention to the pump's efficiency, i.e. how much water it can pump out over a certain period of time, and what is the so-called lifting height, i.e. the maximum height to which the liquid can be transported.

It is also worth checking whether the pump we use is equipped with a pre-filter or a grinder, as is the case with KFBU pumps intended for drainage works. Our equipment should also have additional equipment, such as a float switch that turns the pump on or off depending on the water level or a thermal switch that protects against overheating.
