To extract or move water even better and more effectively, a number of complex structures called pumps have been created. Their construction, although based on basic principles, differs depending on the model. This is the case, among others, for single-stage and multi-stage pumps. How is each of them constructed? And what are the basic differences between them? We discuss this topic in our article.
Basic differences
Their main differences are already indicated by their name. Single-stage pumps are equipped with one impeller, which makes them smaller and simpler in design. In turn, a multistage pump has two or more impellers. Each subsequent step increases the pressure generated by the structure and improves the entire process. It is therefore logical that a two-stage pump will produce higher pressure than a single-stage pump of the same type. When choosing a tool that is right for us, we should analyze its function and our needs. It is worth remembering that the basis for pump selection are the characteristic pressure values and the pump's overall efficiency.
Design issues
The differences between a single-stage pump and a multi-stage pump can be seen in their construction pattern. The first type discussed, i.e. a single-stage pump, is often considered simple and its key element is not to achieve high efficiency. The situation is completely different for the second group. Multistage pumps They consume much more electricity, which is why the mentioned efficiency is very important. To increase it, advanced methods and complex mathematical calculations are used during production, which determine efficiency.
Single-stage pumps - characteristics
