Dratwa i pakuły do rur – zastosowanie i sposób użycia

Dambat, as a Polish manufacturer of pumps and hydraulic accessories brands IBO, IBO Italy i IPRO, does not sell products such as twine or tow. Nevertheless, due to their popularity in installation works, we present basic information about their use and the differences between them.

Twine – what is it and where is it used?

Twine it's durable, thick string (often linen or hemp), which is used, among others, in leatherwork, upholstery, as well as in older sealing techniques. Twine string or twine threads they are sometimes used for hand sewing of thick fabrics, and in the technical version also for auxiliary bindings. Black twine or thick twine these are typical versions used, for example, in shoemaking or carpentry.

Tow - classic sealing of hydraulic threads

Hydraulic tow, also called linen tow, are plant fibers (most often linen) that are used for sealing threaded connections in water installations. Their main advantage is flexibility and resistance to temperature and pressure.

Typical applications:

  • pipe tow – used on threads to prevent leakage,
  • tow and paste – classic set: fiber plus tow paste,
  • tow and paste – work together for better tightness.

Tow vs modern sealants

Although Teflon (PTFE) sealants are increasingly used nowadays, pipe tow they still remain popular - especially in installations made of metal, where they "arrange" well in the thread. Thanks to their natural structure, they also have good adhesion to sealing pastes.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Does Dambat sell tow or twine?

NO. Dambat does not sell twines, tow neither tow paste. We specialize in the production of pumps and hydraulic fittings.

What is twine used for?

What is the difference between linen tow and Teflon?
