Odwadniacze do kompresora – zastosowanie i zasada działania

As Dambat – manufacturer of pumps and hydraulic accessories brands IBO, IBO Italy i IPRO – we don't have it in our offer dehydrators for the compressor neither filter driers. However, due to their popularity in pneumatic installations and the important function they play in protecting tools and compressed air systems, we present basic information about their operation and application.

What is a dehydrator and what is it used for?

Dehydrator is an element of the pneumatic installation whose task is to separate and remove condensate, water, oil and solid impurities (such as rust or dust) generated during air compression. The most common type is filter drier for the compressor, installed just behind the tank or in front of pneumatic tools.

The offer available on the market includes:

  • compressor dehydrator – basic filter for home and workshop compressors,
  • air filter dehydrator for compressor – acts as a filter and moisture separator at the same time,
  • filter drier for paint gun – mounted on the paint gun,
  • paint dehydrator – for high air purity in the painting process,
  • gun dehydrator – miniature version right next to the tool,
  • automatic dehydrator – automatic draining of condensate from the tank,
  • automatic dehydrator for the compressor – installed in industrial installations,
  • filter for the spray gun – small, precise filter ensuring clean air.

How does a filter drier work?

During the air compression process in the compressor, impurities are created in the form of oil, moisture and solid particles. Filter drier separates these contaminants, preventing them from getting into pneumatic tools.

Typical filter drier for the compressor consists of:

  • housings with replaceable filter insert,
  • condensate separator (water, oil),
  • drain valve – manual or automatic.

In many cases the kit also includes pressure reducer with a pressure gauge that allows precise setting and control of the working pressure. The manometer shows the pressure value in bars, which allows the user to continuously adjust the operating parameters of the devices.

Who are dehydrators for?

Compressor dehydrators are used wherever compressed air is used:

  • in car workshops,
  • in paint plants,
  • in industrial installations,
  • in z systems compressor with dehydrator or a separately installed filter,
  • at installing the dehydrator to the compressor as an element of protection for pneumatic tools.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Does Dambat offer compressor dehydrators?

NO. Dambat does not offer steam traps or air filters. We specialize in hydraulic systems, pumps and water fittings.

What is a paint dehydrator used for?

The paint dehydrator removes moisture and impurities from the air, preventing defects in paint coatings during spray painting.

How to install a compressor dehydrator?

Installing the dehydrator to the compressor it is placed on the air duct, between the tank and the tool. It is worth ensuring easy access to the drain valve and the ability to replace the cartridge.

What is the difference between an automatic dehydrator and a manual one?

Automatic dehydrator removes condensate on its own without the need for manual emptying. Manual versions require cyclical opening of the drain valve.
